The world’s timepiece industry gestates tremendous opportunity
Hosted by MCH Swiss Exhibition （Basel） Ltd. and with the support of Government of the Swiss Confederation, the 2009 Basel International Watch and Jewelry Show, reputed as the world’s top luxury goods exhibition carnival, is held in Swiss’s border city Basel in early April. Although the show comes as the international financial crisis hits the global real economy, still, nearly 2000 world famous watch and jewelry brands have participated in the fair, as before, the world’s top brands put on great shows in the six exhibition halls of almost 160,000 square meters, the numerous latest top fashions provide a great eye feast to the viewers at the grand show rooms.

According to statistics, 1952 suppliers from 45 countries and regions have participate in this fair, with 1262 of them from Europe, accounting for 64.7% of the whole; 513 from Asia, accounting for 26.3%; 95 from North America, taking up 4.9%; and the remaining 4.2% are 82 suppliers from rest of the world. The statistics also show that 359 suppliers, which make 18.4% of all, come from the watch and clock industry; 522 of them are from jewelry industry, accounting for 26.7%; 537 of them are from timepiece replacements and accessories business, accounting for 27.5%; while the rest 27.4% are 534 suppliers whose business relate to watch and jewelry. The show this year has attracted hundreds of thousand people to visit.
