By the end of 1954, the Tianjin State-Private Joint Hua Wei Watch Factory (today’s Tianjin Watch Factory) decided to manufacture watches by themselves. The factory has invited Mr. Jiang Zheng Yin and other three experienced masters, to conduct examinations and carry out trial manufacture at the same time. It took them four months to work out the first watch of our country until March 24, 1955. It is a 15jewels mechanical watch, completely handmade, with the gilt words of ‘Made in China’ and five gold stars on the watch plate, that’s why the brand is named ‘Five Star’, which is later renamed as “Wu Yi( five one)” in 1957.
